I've had this Mp3 player for at least 3 or 4 years now and it's still going strong. I recently upgraded to an 8 G Fuze (also an excellent Mp3 player) and I gave this player to my mom. She likes that it has a radio. This Mp3 player is easy to use, light weight, and at a great price. You'd be surprised how many songs it can hold!

Very Handy little Device
This is the 2nd one of these that I have purchased (my other-half has 2 as well). It's rather easy to use. Holds a ton of music, and comes with the ear-buds, a battery, and a USB cable to plug into your computer.
This is not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it works for what I need - it plays mp3s.
There are a couple of quirks:
1) Occasionally, after booting it up, it will hang. Just remove the battery, and put it back in again.
2) It will not always start on the track where you stopped it last. This means the battery needs to be replaced.
3) If you delete files from it, some space still may be taken up by it. You really should to use the Sync option with Windows Media Player.
Otherwise, I use it often (when I'm taking the bus to work, riding my bike, or on a plane/train trip). And for the price, it's a winner in my book.
I own 4 of these mp3 players. The range in capacity from 1 to 4 gigabytes. Obviously I really like them.
PROS:
They operate by using 1 AAA battery. I repeat, 1 AAA battery.
That is the single best thing I can say about these units and
believe me it is a HUGE plus. I DO NOT have to worry about
battery life. I keep one of these little gems in one pocket
and an extra battery (rechargeable or not) in another pocket.
If my battery runs low I DO NOT have to take my player "out of
service" while I recharge it's expensive built in battery. I
simply change the readily available AAA battery that powers it
for hours on end. How nice is that?
FM tuner. When I first bought one of these it was hard to
find a unit that had any sort of radio reception. This one
does and it works well.
Recording capability. This unit can be used to record notes
classroom lectures, etc. as it has a built in microphone.
The quality is not great but it will do.
It is easy to use once you get the hang of it. The software
and instruction manual that come with this unit are simply
bad. Fortunately I got help online from SanDisk and other
sources. I use Rhapsody to manage my players and I have no
problems.
CONS:
Lousy software. Windows media player is NOT good for
managing this unit. I use Rhapsody and it works great. It
took some time and persistence on my part but I now under-
stand how to use and manage these players.
No video capability.
Relatively small capacity. The largest unit available holds
4 gigs. That's more than enough for me but it's not for
everyone.
Bad headphones. So what else is new? I can't remember the
last time I got decent headphones with a music player whether
it was a tapedeck (I am a member of the over 50 set who used
and remembers the first 4 AA battery eating cassette players),
mini disc player, or mp3 player.
I really like these units. I know what their limitations are and I can easily live with them. I am sorry to see that none of the newer mp3 players (not even SanDisk) run on "disposable" batteries. They are all powered by very expensive to replace built in batteries. I will not be buying anything with a built in battery unless I have no other choice.

This is pretty cool...
I use this to listen to music in my car. It did fit as much as I wanted on it and it does take a minute to figure out how to get songs on it, but once you do it works great. It does prefer to be used with Windows Media Player rather than to have files dropped on it. You can set it up to be a drive or as a music device in Media Player. Works great and is awesome on batteries, big plus!! Only downside is that it is not expandable. Oh, and it is bigger and bulkier than it looks.

Can't delete from the player...
You can't delete songs or podcasts after you've listened to them. You need to go back to your computer and take the file off from there. Frustrating for those of us who listen to podcasts or audiobooks and want to immediately delete after listening.

bought 3 at Christmas. All have failed since then.
We bought three Sansa mp3 players around Christmas. All three have died since then. One just died completely. The second, the USB interface no longer works. The third, the screen only displays digital garbage. In my opinion amazon is turning into ebay. Amazon better becareful about what products they sell.
Like my other Sandisk player, this one stopped working after several months of gentle use.

Nice but a pig on batteries
I got this thing for school since it came with a built in microphone. It's kinda cool since it not only has a microphone but Radio as well. I can also store files in it like a thumb drive. The only issue I have is that it eats batteries. It uses a single AAA and has a battery life of about 5 hours. It does have a level indicator on it but I manage to never know that it is low until after a Class, I pick it up and discovered that it is turned off since the battery died. A bit of a bummer finding out that I only got the first few moments of the class.

This product is extremely slow.
Delete button did not work from the first time I bought.
When a music file do not match, this product suddenly stopped and was not working.
It suddenly stopped working after a few months and the computer did not recognize this item. (I tried several computers.)

Not good for audiobooks
This is my first MP3 player. My husband helped me figure out that I needed to load CDs first to my computer, and then back to the player to get them into the proper format - not as easy as "drop and drag" as the instructions (online) say.
I'm pleased with it overall, but I bought it for music and audiobooks (primarily Overdrive from my local library). After about 17 minutes into a longer audiobook track, I lose the ability to keep my place or fast-forward or rewind past the 17 minute mark. I can keep listening, but no stopping, going forward, or going back allowed till the next track--and then only for the first 17 minutes.
It sounds like this is a chronic problem, which I read about in the Sansa online forums.
I don't want to mess around with software to "chop up" the files at this point. So I'll use it for music and look for something else for audiobooks.
I had a few issues with this player when I got it, but I'm liking it more as I use it. It comes with no software or instructions. You have to look it all up online. Had to get Windows Media Player 11 to download anything to it. Nothing else seemed to work. The case it comes in with the band isn't the greatest - it flops around on your arm - but it's easy to use. If it continues to behave itself I think I'll keep it. :-)

No folders for music
It was very easy to use and to download music onto, but everything was automatically downloaded alphabetically by title. I wanted a player that I could put both music and audio books onto, but there are no folders to seperate the audio books from the music. The audio book titles were all mixed in with the music.
Overall this is an OK MP3 player. It plays FM and is also a voice recorder. For the price it is good. It does not play video, but that's OK; this isn't a top of the line player. My biggest complaint: It does not have a setup guide. The box tells you to go to Sandisk.com to download one, but I couldn't find one nor did I get a response from their customer service department. I finally found one when I googled for one. But again, this is a pretty basic player so overall it was easy to figure out anyway; I was downloading songs before I downloaded the setup guide so it's not that complicated. The only thing that I am having real difficulty with is that it layers the track of a 2-disc CD (Beatles' White Album). So instead of playing CD1 Tracks 1-17, then CD2 Tracks 1-13, it plays CD1 Track 1, CD2 Track 1, CD1 Track 2, CD2 Track 2, etc. And of course, this is not addressed in the setup guide, Sandisk refuses to contact me and I've deleted and downloaded the discs several times now, together and separately. But you get what you paid for and I paid $29 bucks for this thing. If I paid more money and got a better MP3 player, I would have better results. It also comes with a strange armband that is either loose over forearm or tight on upper arm (perhaps a belt clip would have been preferable); earbuds that keep falling out of my ears (I'm using headphones that fit the jack and they work fine); and a USB cable. But it's a small player that holds some albums, several songs and plays FM radio, which is all I wanted. Overall, it's an OK MP3 player.

Awesome player!!!
I'm so excited about this MP3 player. I had purchased and returned a different brand some months ago because it crashed and became unusable the first time I connected it to my laptop. So I was hesitant to try another one...but this one is great. I've been using it for a week now and it works great. It's super easy to load and listen to music, audio books, seminars, etc...and you can't beat the price!!! My laptop has Vista and it immediately recognized the M250. I'd recommend it to anyone.
The player didn't come with instructions so I went on the Sandisk web site and after some searching, located the user manual. In case you're like me and want to read instructions before turning it on, here's the path I used and the URL. A lot of the people who write reviews are very IT knowledgeable, but I'm not so it was helpful to have some guidance. Have fun & enjoy!!!

Great bang for the buck
Had to give this five stars considering what I paid. This player has a user programmable 5 band EQ, 2GB memory, voice record and my deal clincher: It takes a AAA battery! No taking this home to your computer to charge it up.
The provided earbuds sound fair, but are too big to stay in my ears. The power output is too weak to crank a good set of headphones real loud, but the unit has a good sound.
All in all, I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Simple, easy and takes AAA's
I have owned the 1 GB M240 and the 2GB M250 nd love them both. Use them mostly for listening to podcasts and while exercising.
Works well with Songbird, or simple drag and drop files directly on the player. ALso nice that this uses a standard USB-miniUSB cable to connect to the PC.
This player supports so many standards that I can take it anywhere and get data from any machine.
Buying 2 more extras for when these go out of production.
